(I wish I were at home with my girl today, but rather than complain about that I’m just going to focus on all the fun stuff from this weekend. Besides, when I told her she was going to Denise’s this morning she immediately ran for the door crying “Nees!! NEES!!” and so I’m pretty sure she’s had enough bonding with me for a while. Seriously, how lucky am I that she loves her caregiver that much? I much prefer that reaction to the alternative… but I still can’t wait for the hugs when I pick her up. Jimmy’s back to work today, so normal routine will now resume after 8 weeks of limbo. Hooray!)
- Madeline toddling toward the kitchen, where Jimmy and I were making breakfast, and stopping to give the wall an impromptu smooch. “MUUAAH!”
- The funny little conversation we had when Jimmy went golfing on Saturday.
- The sound of “Dank-oo Mommy.”
- The sad hilarity of hearing “Dank-oo Mommy!” when she woke crying in the night and I picked her up. “Anytime, baby girl,” was all I said, but I was cracking up a little. So sweet.
- Breakfast with Jimmy.
- Grocery shopping with Madeline – seeing other people react to her never fails to make me smile. She just draws people in.
- Also, she chooses her moments well. We were at the meat counter when she cried “Who’s THAT?” while pointing at the clerk in the butcher jacket.
- Watching Madeline go running rapid-fire down the center aisle of the church after her daddy as he cleaned up following the service.
- Time spent with my sisters Saturday night, laughing at – who else? – Madeline, as she began to perfect the art of the comedic pratfall.
- Watching her toddle around in an adorable new sundress from Aunt Sophie.
- Snuggling in bed watching Expedition: Africa and wondering why no one feels sorry for the poor donkeys.
I’m so excited that a three-day weekend is coming, and I can’t wait for all the moments it holds.

Yippee for a whole loooong weekend to look forward to with our cute daughters! Yay for Jimmy going back to work! Hooray for little girls who love spending time at their day-care-givers, and Well Done! and Thank You! to those women who love these girls so and make it fun for them to be there!
This sounds like a lovely weekend. And yay for Jimmy going back to work!
It sounds like you had a lot of fun. Ihope this weekend is just as memorable (if not more)!
Long weekends…just weekends that seem long, are so nice, aren’t they? She sounds like such a doll. I love the “dankdoo…” story. So adorable!
